ecco i  lavori fatti con la mia lana tinta in microonde

You will need:

- a skein of wool or silk yarn un dyed or white ,
- acid dyes for wool, Kool Aid, food coloring or egg dyes (now before Easter those are easy to find in supermarkets, so stock up)
- vinegar or vinegar essence (I used wine vinegar)
- three or more wide necked glass jars
- a tray or plate that may be used in microwave oven

Put your jars on the plate and half fill them with water.
Add vinegar - 1-2 tbsp to a jar.

Add your coloring, you may mix colors as you wish. Mix thoroughly.

Soak your yarn in warm water for a few minutes.

If you chose to dye in three colors, divide your yarn this way.

Dip every section into a jar like this.

If you'd like your colors not to mix, leave it this way. If you would like soft color graduation with secondary hues, move your yarn from one jar to another a bit. Here I am dipping blue into pink

and get purple.

Now back from pink to blue to strengthen the purple.

On this stage my fingers turn pink and I realize I have forgotten to wear my gloves.

I continue mixing colors with gloves on

until I am satisfied with the results.

Now is the time to put my jars into the microwave.

My program is 600, for 5 minutes, but my micro is very old, so you might need to experiment with yours. We need to bring it to boil but yet not boil the yarn.

Pull out the freshly cooked yarn.

Water turns clear which means we are done. If yours doesn't - heat some more. If the water is still colored or even bright - your yarn and chosen coloring don't work for each other. Usually it's harder to dye in blue.

Leave to cool in the same water then rinse thoroughly and carefully. 

Usually I wash my yarn and excess dye washes off. Rinse with softener.
That's all, your yarn is ready and even washed!

Vi piace fare la maglia?.. ma a volte è difficile trovare la lana con i colori che vi piacciono??
è cosi che ho imparato a tingere la lana a mano.
la lana che si può colorare deve essere pura lana o seta, a volte si riesce anche con il nylon

ecco la mia lana colorata

ecco i  lavori fatti con la mia lana tinta in microonde

Cosa serve :

- filato di lana o di seta
- colori alimentari ( nel periodo prima della Pasqua troverete molti materiali per tingere le uova, questi colori sono perfetti per tingere anche la lana, e vanno bene anche quelli per colorare i dolci)
- aceto di vino bianco
- 3 barattoli di vetro (vanno bene quelli della marmellata con l'imboccatura grande..)
- un piatto che va nel microonde

posate i barattoli sul piatto del microonde e riempiteli con l'acqua a metà circa, aggiungete 1-2 cucchiai di aceto di vino in ogni barattolo

aggiungere i colori a piacere,  per colori  più o meno carichi

mettete la vostra lana in matassa a bagno in acqua tiepida per qualche minuto 

strizzate bene il filato e dividete in parti (nel mio caso tre)

ogni punta va inserita nel barratolo con il colore

se desidero solo tre colori staccati tra di loro, lascio così

se invece ho voglia lana tinta con sfumatura, sposto un po' della lana dal barratolo azzurro nel barattolo rosa

ecco il colore viola

poi, sposto il rosa nell'azzurro.

ecco un bel viola, più caldo di quello di prima ... ma anche le mie dita son colorate  perciò metto i guanti

faccio l'operazione per mischiare i colori con tutti i barattoli

ecco la lana con le sfumature che mi piacciono

ora la lana insieme con il piatto va finire nel microonde

programma 600, tempo 5 minuti. controllate che la lana si scaldi bene senza far bollire l'acqua

alla fine tolgo il piatto con i barattoli: ecco, l'acqua è diventata trasparente, tutto il colore è stato assorbito

si lascia raffreddare la lana in questa acqua
alla fine risciacquare per bene ma molto accuratamente, usando dell'ammorbidente  

asciugate la lana e poi create le vostre bellissime cose e fatele vedere qua sul mio blog....
